FAPA - OC March to June 2012 quarterly report

· 3/31, FAPA-OC invited Wencheng Lin and Simon Lin to speak for our members. To reflect on 2012 Taiwan Presidential election. Both provided insightful observation and prospect on the issue. Many questions were raised during the session by enthusiastic participants.

3月31日，本會邀請太平洋時報社長林文政先生及林榮松醫師蒞會，邀鄉親選後開講;兩位持國際記者證的觀選員分享他們近距離觀察台灣選舉制度的心得。

林榮松醫師對台灣的選舉，無役不與，並保存自台灣民主化、有選舉以來最完整的資料。他的分析往往見微知著，將與大家討論未來在野黨在台灣政治版圖進軍的策略。

美國台灣研究院董事長林文政，出席台灣當局所舉辦各項選舉前後的國際圓桌會，出席各候選人的記者會，他客觀地解析各組候選人的實力，以及未來實力的消長。兩位講者觀察入微，見解精闢。聽眾反應熱烈，紛紛提出問題，欲罷不能。


 · 4/15, Josephine Yang, Peter Su, and Nick Wu attended a gathering sponsored by Evan Ling to meet with Rep. Congressman Ed Royce and his Asian Affairs Director Young Kim. During the face to face discussion, Nick, our Vice president, presented a letter drafted by Coen to Congressman Royce urging for the medical parole of former Taiwan President Chen SB. Attached for his review is a copy of the latest Taiwan Communiqué issue featuring of President Chen.

· 4月15日，會長黃河芬率同蘇國雄夫婦及副會長吳仲輝，參加林富文先生籌劃：與國會議員羅伊斯及其辦公室亞洲助理Young Kim面對面交流。副會長吳仲輝面呈由總會昆不老撰文之請願書予羅伊斯；希望他能幫忙促成台灣前總統陳水扁保外就醫。隨呈文另附一份有關陳總統報導的 Taiwan communique 月刊供其參考。


· 4/26, Congressman Ed Royce issued a letter to President Ma urging him to grant medical parole to former President Chen so that he could receive adequate medical treatment and for human rights and civil liberty’s sake.

· 4月26日，國會議員羅伊斯致信馬總統；信中力勸馬總統; 本基本人權及公民自由之原則，應當讓陳前總統保外就醫，及早得到適當的醫療照顧。

· 4/28, FAPA-OC co-sponsored a field trip to Santa Barbara with OCTA. More than 30 members attended the trip.

· 4月28曰, 與柑縣同鄉會共同舉辦郊遊活動，至Santa Barbara 出遊，有三十多位會員參加，盡興而返。

· 5/3, chapter collected nearly 2,000 petition letters for former President Chen Shui-bian’s medical parole and mailed to Headquarter.

· 5月3日，本會收集近兩千份請願書；要求讓陳前總統保外就醫。請願信已寄交總部處理。
 
· 5/20, Peter Su and some board members attended a fundraiser event for Congressman Royce sponsored by community leaders in southern California and held in Monterey Park.

· 5月20日，蘇國雄夫婦與理事參加在 MontereyPark 為國會議員羅伊斯舉辦的籌款餐會，此會由南加台灣社團領袖共同支持籌劃，十分成功。


 · 5/21, FAPA CA-OC Chapter co-sponsored 2012 Taiwanese American Heritage Week, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez was present and gave a short speech. Orange County Superior Court Judge Deborah Chuang received an outstanding Taiwanese American Award at the event.

· 5月21日，多年來本會與柑縣數社團合辦之台灣傳統週活動圓滿成功。眾議員 Loretta Sanchez 蒞臨晚會致辭，會中並頒傑出台美人獎給台美人第二代, 柑縣高等法院法官 Deborah Chuang.
